A fine terracotta clay suitable for a range of throwing and handbuilding applications. Appropriate when a fine surface is desired. Fires a true terracotta colour.

Keanes midfire Clay bodies - product information
dark matter
A dark clay, containing refractory grog of various sizes for structural strength. Does not contain Manganese Dioxide, safe to handle and use functionally. Suitable for a range of throwing and handbuilding applications. Fires a warm black with white textural flecks in oxidation. For a crystal clear glaze finish over our Black Mid Fire, avoid glazes containing Zinc.
Note** We recommend using Zinc Free glazes

A black super fine clay, does not contain Manganese Dioxide. It uses a black stain only, making it perfect for domestic ware. Suitable for fine work in a range of applications across handbuilding with excellent throwing properties. Fires charcoal black in oxidation. For a crystal clear glaze finish over our Black Mid Fire, avoid glazes containing Zinc.

Our popular Stoneware 33 clay body with added ilmenite. A warm brown clay. Suitable for all applications of handbuilding and throwing. Firing light grey with speckles in oxidation to grey with heavy iron flecks and spots in reduction. Produces warm and varied surfaces.
Note ** Ilmenite magnifies the iron specking by the application of glaze as it bleeds through, intensified by a reducing atmosphere.

A white raku containing a high percentage of fine grog whilst retaining plasticity. Used across all making applications with a wide firing range that is not limited to raku temperatures. This body burnishes well due to its fine clay base. Fires chalky white, light grey in oxidation through to a speckled grey in reduction.

A white clay containing refractory pre-fired mulite grog of various sizes for structural strength. Low wet to dry shrinkage. Suited to larger scale work accomodating a range of hand forming and modeling applications, can be thrown with care can withstand multiple firing techniques. Keane Lumina is a beautiful crisp white porcelain. Silky smooth and super fine, it is excellent for throwing and suitable for handbuilding and surface decoration with intricate detail. Fires crisp white in oxidiation with a blue-tone in reduction. Translucent properties, vitrifies at cone 10.
